Bookkeeper

Job Description
A client of AlphaStaffHCM™ is searching for someone to join our dynamic team as a Legal Bookkeeper, where your expertise in accounting and financial management will play a vital role in supporting legal operations and ensuring precise financial record-keeping. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your bookkeeping skills within a legal environment, contributing to accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, maintaining meticulous records, and ensuring adherence to financial standards and regulations.
This is an in-person role for Stuart, FL. Candidates currently living in this location or willing to self-relocate are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently while verifying invoices and payments.
- Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to record financial transactions accurately in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Conduct bank reconciliations and account reconciliations regularly to verify account balances.
- Generate detailed financial reports, including financial statement writing, for internal review and external audits.
- Manage budgeting processes and assist with financial planning activities as needed.
- Ensure timely processing of tax-related documentation and maintain meticulous records for audit purposes.
Must Have Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping/accounting role.
- 3 years of experience working in a Law office.
- 1 year with Legal administrative experience.
- Proven experience with accounting software.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping and GAAP standards.
- Familiarity with public accounting procedures and governmental accounting requirements.
- Expertise in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and prepare accurate financial reports.
- Proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry accuracy.
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and tax experience is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, budgeting, and technical accounting practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining precise records in accordance with regulatory standards.
